Bookkeeper - Cashier

This is a permanent opportunity, hybrid working across 29 hours per week. 
This opportunity would suit someone relevant double entry bookkeeping, general ledger and online banking transaction experiences.

Who will you be working for?

Our client is a well-known global publishing business located in the heart of London and stone’s throw from Covent Garden.   

What will you be doing?

You will be working within a finance team of 11 managing the overall cash position and ensuring bank reconciliations are accurate and up to date.
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Bank accounts – reconciling all the bank accounts on a weekly basis in Sage and updating the Cash Balances Report.
  • Cashflow – maintaining a cashflow projection spreadsheet in 3 main currencies and ensuring enough cash is available in each currency.
  • Payments - making all non-invoice payments via internet banking or by cheque, such as payments to distributed publishers and tax payments.
  • Expense claims – processing and paying all staff/reps overseas and UK expenses, using the expenses system (SAP Concur). Dealing with expenses queries from staff.
  • Banking – keeping a record & paying in all UK and foreign cheques at the bank; collecting any foreign currency that has been ordered; paying in cash receipts.
  • Liaising with the bank when queries arise. Cancelling cheques as necessary. 
  • Petty cash – handing out sterling and foreign petty cash advances; maintaining records, posting and reconciling.
  • Liaising with the Financial Controller and external auditors on bank and cash queries.
  • Working closely with Sales Ledger, Royalty Manager and the Purchase Ledger Clerk on receipt / payment queries.
  • Providing cover when the Purchase Ledger Clerk is absent.
  • Producing month-end reconciliations of the credit card suspense account, unrecognised receipts, staff rechargeables, and petty cash
  • Manual matching of transactions (e.g., overseas staff travel expenses against cash advances).
  • Any other duties required.

About you?

You will:
  • Previous cashier and/or Bookkeeping experience – essential.
  • Double entry and nominal ledger experiences/
  • Be an exceptional communicator.
  • Hold exceptional computer skills including Word and Excel.
  • Experience with only banking systems.
  • Friendly and well presented.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Flexible attitude and can-do approach.
