Hearings Officer

We are currently seeking a Hearings Officer with experience of working with and supporting committees (or panel) with tribunal or hearings.

The Hearings Officer position is an 18 month fixed term contract.

Who will you be working for?

What will you be doing?
As Hearings Officer you will work autonomously across venues in the UK to ensure the smooth running of Committee meetings and hearings. You will also provide Committee Panels with administrative support, including assistance with quality checking of written decisions and reasons; support and assistance to all parties attending hearings. This will include the coordination and undertake pre and post meeting and hearing activities, including the accurate production and publication of statutory notices and decisions.

Key Duties:
  • First point of contact at Fitness to Practise events and manage the smooth running of proceedings.
  • Management of complex multi-party hearings.
  • Ensuring the smooth running of Fitness to Practise events, providing pastoral support for vulnerable witnesses.
  • Ensure that health and safety, security and data security measures are observed at all Fitness to Practise events.
  • Liaise with the Management Team to gain instructions and ensure they are communicated effectively.
  • Complete follow up work for events accurately and efficiently, including the production of statutory notices.
  • Updating relevant databases, ensuring information is entered accurately and within given timescales.
  • Communicate to Management issues occurring in proceedings that may have an impact on the conduct of Fitness to Practise hearings. 
About you:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent essential
  • Experience within a similar role; supporting committee or panel working autonomously.
  • Ability to support and manage challenging and vulnerable individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Exceptional organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willing to travel as required including overnight stays if required.

The Hearings Officer position salary is an 18 month fixed term contract paying a salary of £26,530 pa plus allowance (dependent on experience) and outstanding employee benefits; benefits include generous annual leave, pension scheme, employee discounts.
