Hearings Team Manager

We are currently seeking a Hearings Team Manager lead, motivate and manage a remote Hearings team.

What will you be doing?
As Hearings Team Manager you will be accountable for the quality, volume and time management of your team’s work within fitness to practise.  You will also encourage collaborative working through leading with coaching and where necessary giving guidance the team.   

Key Duties:
  • Prioritisation and management of work and hearings, ensuring the best use of available.
  • Team Management of the team working remotely in hearings – you will support, motivate and coach direct reports to support the delivery of hearings, manage and lead the team, performance management and ensure compliance within the team.
  • Risk management - control hearing risks by undertaking appropriate checks at all stages of the process, making recommendations and escalating high-risk hearings to Operational Managers.
  • Support the Operational Manager.
  • Monitor, identify, assess, mitigate, remediate, and appropriately escalate risks where necessary.
  • Support to individuals or team with challenges or issues that arise in relation to the scheduling or management of hearings, whether internal or external.
  • Working collaboratively with external stakeholders, including Partners, representative bodies and legal advisors and representatives.
  • Represent the organisation at external events and be able to present to large audiences when required.
  • Analyses and recommendation of improvements to processes and systems
  • Responsible for reviewing and authorising financial claims relating to hearings.
  • Assist with the appointment and recruitment of Partners.
  • Responsible for ensuring the public facing Register is accurately updated to reflect the outcome of a hearing.
  • Responsible for the adjudicating of postponement requests made in advance of a hearing.
  • Review and respond to challenges and complaints about the decisions made and service provided by your or other teams.
  • Support and deputise for the Operational Manager when requested or required.

About you:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent essential
  • Knowledge of tribunal or hearing services.
  • Knowledge of professional regulation and the assessment and management of risk.
  • Experience within a similar role – Supporting and leading a team, monitoring, managing and driving productivity to meet agreed objectives and performance indicators.
  • Ability to analyse large volumes of complex information.
  • Exceptional organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills – with ability to present information, clearly and concisely, in written reports.
  • Willing to travel as required including overnight stays if required.
