Academic Support Manager

Our Client is seeking an ambitious, Academic Support Manager on a temp basis for 6 weeks maybe longer; remotely getting a competitive £20.33 an hour. 

Who will you be working for?

Our Client is a well known London University. 

What will you be doing?

You will Provide administrative leadership and management of to the Doctoral School team and oversees the day-to-day operation of the Doctoral School.  Lead projects and activities to deliver the strategic plan as agreed with the HoDS. Ensures Doctoral School regulations, processes and procedures are operating effectively and are in alignment with those of the university. 
The post-holder is responsible for the review, revision and development of regulations and procedures, managing the implementation of new regulations and procedures as required and maintain oversight of the administration of appeals and complaints by postgraduate research students. 

Your responsibilities will include:
  • To manage the Doctoral School team, including the management of staff resources & workload, staff recruitment & training, motivation and assessment of performance, to ensure a high quality professional service is delivered to postgraduate research students and to staff.
  • To implement operational aspects of the Doctoral School strategic plan as agreed with the Head of Doctoral School and Head of Student Strategic Initiatives, ensuring the effective management and efficient administration of all research degree processes
  • To provide management information to a range of stakeholders and provide specialist advice and recommendations within the parameters of the statutory requirements to support informed decision making about postgraduate research matters. 
  • To prepare a range of papers, reports, and other statistical analyses and set up new information systems as appropriate putting forward recommendations through the provision of advice to facilitate the interpretation of specific issues and support decision making.
  • To liaise with internal departments and ensure effective communication channels are maintained between the Doctoral School, other professional services and academic departments to facilitate the exchange of information for purposes of effective working
You will:
  • Experience of supporting postgraduate research  study
  • Experience of working successfully in a student-facing team in an education setting
  • Experience of Office administration, ideally in a Higher Education context.
  • Experience of identifying and implementing creative improvements to procedures and systems.
  • Experience of servicing academic committees, including writing minutes, reports and taking follow up action.
  • Advanced planning, organisational and prioritising skills
  • Strong analytical and problem -solving capability within a specialism or across a broad management function.
