Within the secretarial and office sector in London however, there has always been a lack of detail regarding not just salaries but employment trends generally.

Employment agencies try to fill this gap by reporting on salary levels for the jobs they work on. Unfortunately this approach, in looking at only a small fraction of the market, gives misleading and often inaccurate data.

So instead, each year for many years Gordon Yates in association with The Guardian has sought to gather and share actual data provided in confidence by employers and employees.
