We can help you secure the job you want. Whether reviewing your CV, sharpening your interviewing skills, helping you develop marketing strategies or working with you in one-to-one consultation – we have the modules to meet your needs.

We can also help you with longer term career planning and strategy. Psychometric profiling is an aid to clarifying strengths and opening up new possibilities. Coaching is a powerful, increasingly popular tool to self-awareness and personal growth.

Psychometric Profiling

Psychometric profiling uses scientific methodology to assess aptitude and personality, comparing an individual's profile against that of a wider norm group.

This can be used as a powerful development tool, identifying personality and aptitude strengths that can aid the change management process.

Gordon Yates staff are trained and authorised to administer and interpret SHL psychometric instruments, including the world standard OPQ (Occupational Personality Questionnaire). Other instruments include:

  • Motivation - what things make you want to work harder?
  • Verbal/numerical reasoning - how strong are your aptitudes?
  • Interest inventory - what are your key areas of career interest?

SHL have been world leaders in workplace psychometric profiling for over 25 years.

Gordon Yates has worked with SHL for over 20 years.

Price - from £200 per SHL profile

Executive Coaching

This is a concept that has seen enormous growth in recent years, initially by executives at the highest level but these days increasingly by successful people throughout organisations.

Executive coaching facilitates self-development, helping to clarify personal goals in the context of business life, thereby empowering sustainable higher performance.

Jo Tomazou has worked as an executive coach to CEOs and senior executives from a wide range of organisations, as well as helping middle ranking and more junior staff. Her coaching degree from the School of Coaching is widely recognised as the gold standard for executive coaching.

Price - £225 per one hour session (typically a course comprises 6 sessions)

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why doesn't every recruitment agency provide this kind of jobsearch training and career help?

A: Very few agencies combine training alongside recruitment. At Gordon Yates we have a long and successful history of providing career consultancy, high-level executive coaching and psychometric profiling, together with training and development for individuals. Our HR division works with CIPD-qualified people trained in learning and development strategy.

Q: Why isn't this support free? I thought helping candidates like this was what agencies did anyway?

A: The main focus of recruitment agencies is on finding the strongest possible candidates for employers.

As recruiters, Gordon Yates does offer advice to job seekers - far more than most agencies - but we can only afford to spend a limited amount of time giving free support.

This is why we offer Career Doctor as an additional, but distinctly separate service alongside our recruitment work.

There is a huge need for friendly, professional support that helps job seekers communicate their strengths and get noticed. By offering this service alongside recruitment we are able to make a real difference – and can spend time giving the tailored, personal support that everyone deserves.

Q: I’m unemployed. Can I get financial support for jobsearch skills training?

A: Gordon Yates is one of a small number of organisations selected by the Department of Work & Pensions to provide Job Search Support for Newly Unemployed Professionals. Talk to your Job Centre Plus Advisor (quoting LMS/Opportunity Number BRI1993) – or alternatively talk to us, we have good relations with local job centres and can enquire about free training for you.

Q: Do you only offer these modules face to face - could I do them by phone and email instead?

A: We believe that working one-to-one and face to face gives by far the best results. But we also understand that everyone's circumstances are different and we'll be flexible wherever possible. Talk to us about what you need and we'll give you an honest answer about whether email or phone support would be an effective alternative.

Q: I'm not sure which of these services I really need - where do I start?

A: We offer a free diagnostic to highlight where you need help, and point you in the right direction. The diagnostic checks the strength of your job search skills, including your application strategy, your CV and your interview skills. This allows you to decide what kind of help would benefit you most. If you would like to know more about this any of the team will be glad to help.

Q: Can I pay by credit card?

A: Credit card, debit card, Visa, Mastercard, American Express - whatever suits you best.
